This years advent calendar theme is based on the witching hour! We will be exploring supernatural events and fading through a number of beautiful cool tones.
There are nine options for the yarn base as follows, please be aware that the NSW suri silk cloud, NSW fingering, Alpaca Silk Cashmere Fingering and Donegal Tweed fingering will take the dyes differently so the final advent will look quite different if you order any of those bases.
The first yarn base is our Suri Silk Cloud base. This is the first time we're able to offer a fluffy laceweight advent and I cant wait! 74% suri baby alpaca meets 26% mulberry silk in this gorgeous laceweight yarn. It creates a lovely lightweight fabric by itself, or can be held double with another yarn to give your project a more fluffy texture. Each 20g mini has 120 metres.
The second yarn is our luxe sock base. This sock base has to be my favourite - 75% 19.5micron Superwash Merino and 25% nylon - twisted into a beautiful 3ply yarn. This yarn is wonderfully soft and perfect for wearing against your skin. It takes dye beautifully and speckles really pop with the nature of the twist of the yarn. This yarn is perfect for any project, from socks to shawls and sweaters too. 85m per 20g mini.
The third yarn is our Silver Twinkle Sock base. This sparkly yarn is a blend of 75% superwash merino, 20% nylon and 5% stellina. The sparkle in this yarn is subtle and gives the finished fabric such a lovely lustre which looks amazing in the light. The nylon content makes this yarn hardwearing so it is ideal for all projects from socks to garments. 75m per 20g mini skein.
The fourth option is our Merino singles base. This fingering weight yarn is 100% merino wool. The single ply gives this yarn a silky looking finish that makes the colours shine. Due to the single ply and lack of nylon, this yarn isn’t durable enough for socks. However it makes stunning shawls as it has a lovely drape and a beautiful stitch definition which works particularly well for brioche and lace patterns. It also pairs wonderfully with either of our fluffy laceweight yarns, which give it enough durability to be used for a sweater. 72m per 20g mini.
The fifth yarn base is our NSW fingering base. This yarn is perfect for those of you who prefer non superwash. It is 100% 20.5 micron non superwash merino, making it super soft and perfect for garment and shawl knitting. 80m per 20g mini.
The sixth yarn base is our Donegal Tweed Sock. This beautiful fingering weight base is 85% Superwash Merino and 15% Donegal Neps. The Donegal neps are black, brown and white and give a lovely tweed effect. Ideal for all projects from socks to sweaters. 80m per 20g mini.
The seventh yarn base is our High Twist sock, another firm favourite of mine as speckles come out so beautifully crisp on it, and the stitch definition the 2ply yarn has is gorgeous. This yarn is perfect for any project as it is a blend of 75% merino and 25% nylon. 85m per 20g mini.
The eighth yarn base we’re offering is our alpaca silk cashmere fingering. This NSW base is incredibly soft due to the nature of the yarn blend, the drape is beautiful and it is very warm and cosy! 70% Baby Alpaca 20% Silk 10% Cashmere. 80m per 20g mini.
The ninth and final yarn base option is our Merino Nylon DK. This base is made up of 75% superwash merino and 25% Nylon. It's beautifully soft and squishy, while also being durable due to the nylon content. This yarn is ideal for all projects from socks to garments. 45m per 20g mini skein.
This is a pre order, and will be dyed and shipped by the end of October/very early November at the latest. Shipping has been calculated based on the weight of the advent only.
